The Flaming Lips announced the first ever Space Bubble concert in their hometown of Oklahoma City. The show will take place on Friday, December 11 at The Criterion in OKC.
Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne has been rolling around audiences in giant plastic bubbles for years now. But the iconic production tool has taken on new meaning with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and now serves as an actual safety measure (read JamBase’s recent interview with Wayne Coyne where he talks audience bubbles and more). Billed as a “very special, social-distanced, first-of-its-kind prophylactic event,” as per a press release, the concert will strictly adhere to local health and safety standards.
