The Smashing Pumpkins Share Haunting “Wyttch” Video [Watch]

The Smashing Pumpkins have shared a new music video for their hard-hitting single, “Wyttch”. The video, which fittingly comes on Friday The 13th, is the latest release from the group’s forthcoming double album, Cyr, out November 27th.

Fans of The Smashing Pumpkins have had their fair share of news to sift through in the past month. In October, frontman Billy Corgan announced an impending sequel to the 1995 album, Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. Additionally, in honor of Mellon Collie‘s 25th anniversary, the recently-reunited pop-grunge outfit will embark on an anniversary tour once such a feat is possible.

Though the audio for “Wyttch” was released on October 30th, the music video still manages to breathe new life into the track. The song is one of the heaviest so far from the Cyr singles—which include “Ramona“, “The Colour of your Love“, “Confessions of a Dopamine Addict“, “Birch Grove”, “Anno Satana“, and the album’s title track—and things get even heavier with the Charlotte Kemp Muhl-directed video.

With Corgan center-stage donning similar makeup to his onstage look, the video is immediately looks like a horror movie classic. Between quick cuts of Corgan and other possessed individuals, the video is a blur of nightmare-inducing costumes, makeup, and liquid colors—in the best way possible. Meanwhile, the song is accented with Corgan’s repeated uttering of “All Hallows Eve”.
