Thundercat has shared a fresh take on “Fair Chance”, as remixed by British musician/producer Floating Points. The song is one of the new originals included on the jazz bassist’s latest studio album, 2020’s It Is What It Is, and features guest contributions from hip-hop artists Ty Dolla $ign and Lil B.
The original version of the lofi-inspired song had a runtime of just under four minutes, but the new remix stretches the recording out to just over five minutes. Additionally, the Floating Points remix ditches the song’s calming, atmospheric vibe for more of an uptempo, electronica listening experience. Floating Points (real name, Sam Shepherd) didn’t hold back when giving the track a shot of adrenaline, and the end result is a lively alternative take on one of the highlight recordings from Thundercat’s latest album.
