Amanda Shires released the guest-filled track “Our Problem” today to honor the 48th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. The new version of Shires’ “The Problem” features contributions from Cyndi Lauper, Lilly Hiatt, Linda Perry, Peaches and more.
Angie Stone, K.Flay, Morgane Stapleton, Valerie June and Nona Hendryx also sing on “Our Problem.” The band for the track consists of Shires’ husband, Jason Isbell on guitar, Sheryl Crow on bass, drummer Chris Powell and keyboardist Peter Levin.
“I’m very grateful to have so many of my sisters joining me for ‘Our Problem.’ The issue of women’s rights and reproductive health affects us all,” Amanda wrote in a statement accompanying the track. “‘Our Problem’ represents women of all generations, musical genres, and communities. Music has the power to bridge gaps and bring people together and I hope that ‘Our Problem’ reminds you that we are all in this world together and that we can be there for one another no matter what. You are never alone and I’M ON YOUR SIDE.”
