Ivan Neville joined Galactic for a cover of the Pointer Sisters popularized Allen Toussaint song, “Yes We Can Can,” at Tipitina’s in New Orleans. The performance came in celebration of Toussaint’s birthday as well as Tipitina’s 44th anniversary.
Toussaint’s “Yes We Can Can” was originally recorded by Lee Dorsey in 1970 as “Yes We Can” and appeared on his album of the same name, which was co-produced by Toussaint. The Pointer Sisters had a hit with the song in 1973 and included it on their self-titled debut album that came out that same year. In celebration of Toussaint’s birthday, Neville leads Galactic through the infectiously funky number on vocals and electric piano.
