moe. Announces Outright Cancellation Of snoe.down, Offers Refunds

92

While many bands and festivals hold out hope for the eventual fulfillment of continuously-postponed dates, moe. has decided to face the music. On Tuesday, the Buffalo-bred jam quintet announced the outright cancellation of its proposed snoe.down event at 10 Mile Music Hall in Frisco, CO.

The winter version of moe.’s semi-annual moe.down celebration was originally set to make its debut in the Rocky Mountains on March 20th–22nd, 2020. As the situation surrounding the pandemic became direly apparent for touring musicians, the band decided to postpone the event to March 19th–21st, 2021. Now, it appears that rather than hope for the best and risk letting fans down once again, moe. has decided to take the most prudent action and cancel the festival altogether.

In a message posted to moe.’s social media pages, the band expressed its deepest regret in delivering this unfortunate news. While the timing of the pandemic certainly wasn’t convenient for anyone, it couldn’t have been worse for moe. as it aligned with the 30th anniversary of the band, during which it had planned expansive celebrations.

December 2019 was a time of great excitement for us. We were looking ahead to 2020 and what was to be our time to celebrate 30 years of moe. There were tours scheduled, albums to be released and the Rocky Mountain debut of our beloved snoe.down. As we all know, 2020 did not turn out to be the year any of us expected.

In order to keep our famoe.ly, fans, and crew safe, we made the heartbreaking call to end our Winter West Coast Tour – with one week left to go on the road – right as talk of a national lockdown began. Not knowing what to expect, we spoke with the folks at 10 Mile Music Hall about rescheduling the Frisco, CO based snoe.down to 2021. With the pandemic ongoing, and continuing first and foremost with your safety in mind, we regret to announce that snoe.down will be cancelled in full.

moe. also addressed the growing concerns over refunds for snoe.down, though the situation is a bit complicated—even in the heightened age of pandemic-related snags. In its statement, the band alleges that “We never received any funds from 10 Mile Music Hall, the event’s promoter, and they have not offered to fund the refunds for tickets.” As the pandemic continues to keep people out of work while government assistance remains at bay, moe. has decided to put up the money itself.

Original ticket-holders who purchased snoe.down passes during the artist pre-sale with Tickets Today will receive a 100% refund for their tickets. Those refunds will be issued automatically through the point of purchase and distributed through Ticket Today’s parent company, Ticketmaster. For all those who purchased tickets on Eventbrite outside of the pre-sale, however, the moe. organization is offering a 35% refund. The band acknowledges that “anything less than 100% is unacceptable” but asks for patience as it attempts “to secure funds from 10 Mile Music Hall that will allow us to fund the balance of the refund.”

Those who are eligible for the partial refund will be contacted via email with instructions on how to receive recompense. Scroll down to read moe.’s full statement regarding the cancellation of snoe.down.

A message from moe. regarding snoe.down.

For those of you who have been looking for answers on any previously requested refunds, we are frustrated as well. We never received any funds from 10 Mile Music Hall, the event’s promoter, and they have not offered to fund the refunds for tickets. But we have been able to do the following:

• Those original ticket holders who purchased their ticket via the artist pre sale with Tickets Today will be issued a 100% refund. These refunds will be automatically made to the original point of purchase and you should expect an email from Ticket Today’s parent company, Ticketmaster.

• For the other ticket buyers, the moe. organization has gathered enough money to offer a 35% refund to all original ticket holders who purchased a ticket to snoe.down via Eventbrite. An email will be sent to those purchasers with directions on how to receive your partial refund.

We know you are all frustrated and for those of you receiving a partial refund, anything less than 100% is unacceptable. We are so very sorry about this situation when we know that everyone is under stress – financially, emotionally, physically. Please accept our deepest apologies for this unintended hardship. We are doing our best to secure funds from 10 Mile Music Hall that will allow us to fund the balance of the refund.

We cannot wait to be with you again live, hitting the slopes somewhere soon, and enjoying our time together. It means the world to us.

View Statement

10 Mile Music Hall has also posted a message on its website apologizing to fans and customers alike. The venue has also included contact information and a plea for fans to bear with the venue as it navigates through the financial minefield that COVID-19 has caused.

Dear Music Fans,

First, we’d like to thank you for your ongoing support and patience as we deal with the COVID closure and associated financial fallout for the music industry. We understand and share your frustration and anxiety as we all struggle to survive these unprecedented times. We also want you to know that we are working hard to get back on our feet so we can fulfill our commitments to you – whether you are a ticket-holder, artist, agent, manager or supplier. We are definitely down, but we are not out. We look forward to brighter days and to providing world class live music experiences in Summit County for years to come.

For those of you who are feeling frustrated about your ticket refunds, especially the lack of transparency and poor communications around our refund policy, we sincerely apologize. We screwed up. We are an independent venue, under-staffed and inexperienced with this type of situation and we have done a lousy job of managing the disaster. We are sorry and we hope you can forgive us.

Please know that the artists bear no responsibility or blame for the management of ticket refunds. While artist representatives do hold deposit money collected from the venue, it is not their job to manage or process the refunds – that is on us. We also want you to know that we intend to deliver these shows or refund your ticket fees just as soon as we can – and we have a plan to get there. For those of you who would like a more detailed explanation of what’s going on at 10 Mile Music Hall, our financial situation and plans, please read on below this note.

If any of you are fortunate enough to be on solid financial ground and would like to donate your ticket (or make a general donation) to the 10 Mile Music Hall Covid Survival Fund, we would be very grateful for your support (Venmo @the10mile). We can also exchange donated tickets for drink vouchers on the 10MMH patio or at a future show at 10MMH for 100% of the value of the ticket. Please email [email protected] if you would like to donate or exchange your ticket.

We thank you all for your support. We hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and finding new ways to connect and find happiness in these difficult times.

With gratitude and humility,
10 Mile Music Hall
Todd, Keegan & Chris
