Soulive Details ‘Get Down’ & ‘Gettin Down At Hampshire College’ Vinyl Releases

84

Soulive announced a pair of limited edition vinyl releases originally recorded in 1999, the year the trio — consisting of guitarist Eric Krasno, drummer Alan Evans and keyboardist Neal Evans — was formed. Get Down – 21st Birthday Edition marks the first time the group’s debut album has been issued on vinyl, while Soulive 1999 – Gettin Down At Hampshire College is a previously unreleased live album. Only 500 copies of both albums are available via Vintage League Music.

Vintage League Music is a label co-founded by Alan Evans. Alan remixed and remastered Get Down in honor of its 21st anniversary. Get Down – 21st Birthday Edition also includes a never before heard bonus track and liner notes penned by Alan Evans and Eric Krasno as well as never before seen photos from the sessions that yielded the LP.

Soulive 1999 – Gettin Down At Hampshire College was recorded on May 2, 1999. Alan Evans unearthed the set last year and handled mixing and mastering duties at his Iron Wax Studios facility. “This album includes some killing extended live renditions of some classic tracks from that era,” Alan noted. The show took place just a few months after Soulive finished work on Get Down.

Each of the albums are up for sale individually with a discounted bundle available. The anticipated release date is March 31, 2021.
