STS9 took fans back to the band’s 2018 run at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Monday with footage of “Be Nice” into “Crystal Instrument”. The pro-shot footage comes from the jamtronic act’s September 7th, 2018 show at the famed Morrison, CO venue.

This latest video comes after a brief period of absence from Sound Tribe Sector 9 on YouTube where uploads of pro-shot footage had become a regular occurrence. The cross-genre electronic outfit brought 2020 to a close with a pair of full-show Throwback Re:Stream webcasts that highlighted the group’s 2018 run at Red Rocks.

The “Be Nice” > “Crystal Instrument” pairing opened the two night run at Red Rocks. Dropping fans straight into the group’s patented trance-fusion jams, STS9 improvises together as one cohesive unit as each member pushes the jam forward while being careful not to bask in the limelight. It’s with this strategy of synergy that the instrumental improvisation drives forward in new and impressive ways, undulating between dizzying highs and tranquil lows.

Watch STS9 perform “Be Nice” > “Crystal Instrument” on 9/7/18 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The band is scheduled to return to Red Rocks on July 23rd—24th for a pair of makeup shows that were rescheduled from 2020. These shows will see Sound Tribe joined by Shpongle and MIZE on the 23rd and a Tycho DJ set and Chrome Sparks on the 24th, should they occur. Head over to Red Rocks’ website for more information.
