Widespread Panic continued its rollout of archival material on Friday with a video of “Pigeons” from Athens, GA on 2/10/11. This concert at The Classic Center came as the first in a three-night run celebrating the band’s 25th anniversary.

The “Pigeons” video comes as the latest in an ongoing series of clips pulled from Widespread Panic’s extensive archive of live concert footage. The band hit the ground running at the start of 2021 and have since released videos from its 2002 documentary, 25th anniversary run of shows, concert films, interviews, vintage TV appearances, and more.

This live staple from 1991’s self-titled album kicked off set two on February 10th and set the momentum in motion to roll all night long. Though the well-worn favorite has been played live over 1,000 times—1,064 according to the Everyday Companion—the song remains a fan favorite and is welcome every time, with 2/10/11 being no exception. Despite the song’s frequency, Widespread Panic is still able to take the song to new places each time and this 13-minute version does not disappoint with the dark, funky recesses that JoJo Hermann and Jimmy Herring team up to explore.
