Willie Nelson Shares Title Track From Forthcoming Frank Sinatra Tribute Album, ‘That’s Life’ [Watch]

Willie Nelson has released his cover of “That’s Life”, the title track to his forthcoming Frank Sinatra tribute album. Nelson is set to release the 11-track album, That’s Life, on February 26th, 2021.

Written by Dean Kay and Kelly Gordon and recorded in 1963 by Marion Montgomery, “That’s Life” became a staple in Sinatra’s catalog once it appeared on his 1966 album of the same name. It has since been recorded by countless others, like Aretha FranklinJames BrownDavid Lee Roth, and Van Morrison.

Nelson’s rendition stays true to Sinatra’s inspiration, while, of course, adding his own country and Americana flare. With a traditional drums and piano foundation, Nelson adds melodic lines on guitar throughout the song. A harmonica emerges during the first chorus, which then appears sporadically as the song progresses.

Accompanying the audio is a lyric video featuring illustrator Paul Mann. Mann is seen painting the cover art for the album, an animated Willie Nelson donning his acoustic guitar while standing in a city street.

Pre-orders for That’s Life are available now. Nelson will offer the album on CD and vinyl formats, as well as bundles that include special merchandise options. Click here to pre-order and for more information, and check out the lyric video for “That’s Life” below.
