Full Show Video: Phish Plays Bataclan In Paris In 1997

During Phish‘s tour of Europe in February 1997, the band made an appearance at the Paris venue Bataclan. The quartet’s lone performance at the theater came on this date in 1997, and for Full Show Friday, below is full show video footage Phish’s concert captured on February 18, 1997. Bataclan was the site of terrorist attack in November 2015 during an Eagles Of Death Metal concert in which 89 people were tragically killed.

When Phish made a stop at Bataclan in 1997, the band delivered a cover-heavy performance mixed with several of their favorite originals. The show began with just the second rendition of “Beauty Of My Dreams” which made its debut two days earlier. A string of originals filled out the rest of the first set, highlighted by the third performance of their instrument-rotating original “Walfredo” and a blissful “Slave To The Traffic Light” closer.

The second set started off with a trio of covers with Phish playing “Peaches en Regalia” > “2001” > “My Soul,” before mixing in originals “Maze,” “Wolfman’s Brother” > “Reba,” “Train Song” and “Harry Hood,” ahead of the set closing cover of Edgar Winter Group’s “Frankenstein.” Turning to Jimi Hendrix’s songbook, the encore that night at Bataclan was the guitarist’s “Bold As Love” which served as the final song of the concert.
