A new documentary, Long Live Rock…Celebrate the Chaos, seeks to examine the lasting culture of hard rock through the passion of fans and musicians alike. A trailer for the film, out on March 11th, is available now and features interviews with members of Rage Against The Machine, Metallica, Slipknot, Guns N’ Roses, and more.

The film is directed by Jonathon McHugh, who has served as music supervisor for the Saw franchise as well as the Janis Joplin documentary Janis: Little Girl Blue and many others. The documentary hosts footage from rock festivals across the United States and appearances from Tom Morello (RATM), Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Rob ZombieJerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Jonathon Davis (Korn), Ice-TLzzy Hale (Halestorm), and even former Ohio Governor and 2016 Republican presidential candidate John Kasich.

In the trailer, the film immediately takes aim at the notion propagated by many in the media, as well as aging rockstars, that “rock is dead.” Instead, fans and musicians alike posit that the ignoring of the ever-present genre on award shows, talk shows, and other pop culture mediums has instead united fans and musicians as they continue their commitment even as the rest of the country turns away.

“I don’t want to be on morning talk shows, having to be nice because hard rock is all accepted because it looks good for Kathy Lee [Gifford] and Hoda [Kotb],” Zombie said in the film;s trailer.

Long Live Rock…Celebrate the Chaos places just as much emphasis on the fans as it does the musicians as it spotlights, “passionate fans as they take time out from their everyday lives to commune with their ‘rock families’,” according to a press release.

Gary Spivack and I wanted to make a film celebrating the chaos of rock culture,” said McHugh. “Growing up in NYC, I would do whatever it took to get in to see bands like Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and other rock icons. We are so proud to shine a light on the most passionate fans in the world and the music that drives them.”

Long Live Rock…Celebrate the Chaos will debut in a global online event on March 11th at 8 p.m. ET. The premiere will also include a post-film conversation with filmmakers and some of the musicians. Tickets for the stream are available on the film’s website. Following the premiere on the 11th, the documentary will be available for on-demand viewing beginning on March 12th.
