Widespread Panic kept the archival content coming over the weekend with the release of “Nights In White Satin” and “Postcard” from 2/11/11. This concert at The Classic Center in Athens, GA served as night two of the band’s three-night 25th-anniversary run which ended on the 14th at Atlanta’s Fox Theater.
The videos of “Nights In White Satin” and “Postcard” come as the latest in an ever-flowing stream of archival live content. Since unceremoniously beginning a continuous, almost daily, barrage of live videos at the start of 2021 the band has released videos from its 2002 documentary, 25th anniversary run of shows, concert films, interviews, vintage TV appearances, and more.

Of the two videos, “Nights In White Satin” came first in the evening as the penultimate song of set one. This Moody Blues cover came on with a slow burn as JoJo Hermann‘s opening organ creeps forward with Jimmy Herring‘s sparing leads. While Widespread Panic’s 25-anniversary run was jam-packed with plenty of old-school favorites, “Nights In White Satin” was a major throwback. Played during some of the very first Widespread Panic shows, “Nights In White Satin” had not been seen in nearly 25 years since last played on 10/9/87 and has not been performed since, per Everyday Companion.
As for “Postcard”, which came as the second of four encore songs, this time-tested rocker got The Classic Center roaring from the opening chords as Herring rips the pullcord on this chainsaw of a track. As the show drew to a close, John Bell‘s repeated phrase of “I don’t wanna leave” was likely felt by many members of the audience.
