Widespread Panic dug into the archives for vintage footage of “Wondering”, “I’m Not Alone”, and “Climb To Safety” taken from Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in 2000. The video comes from the band’s August 12th, 2000 concert at the Pelham, AL venue, which was later released as the Oak Mountain 2000 concert film.

This video comes as the latest in an ever-flowing stream of archival live content from the southern rock jam band. Since unceremoniously beginning a continuous–almost daily–barrage of live videos at the start of 2021, the band has released clips from its 2002 documentary25th anniversary run of showsconcert filmsinterviewsvintage TV appearances, and more.

This latest video comes as uncharted territory in Widespread Panic’s archival video rollout as the band cracks the seal on 8/12/00. While the band has delved into a bit of content from the Michael Houser era of the group, much of the footage released over the past two months has been more contemporary and featured guitarist Jimmy Herring. Here, we get a prime look at the band with the original lineup intact.

Percussionist Domingo “Sunny” Ortiz counts off the beat to “Wondering” on his congas to get the series of segues rolling before drummer Todd Nance comes in to put the song in gear. Coming in at the two slot of set one, the Everyday track finds Widespread Panic building up some serious heat to start the show. Those flames keep flowing right on through “I’m Not Alone” as the band turns their kinetic energy into potential by slowing things down a bit, but not for long. Soon enough, they’re roaring back with “Climb To Safety” as the lingering lead Michael Houser propels the band through the rest of set one.

Watch Widespread Panic string together “Wondering” > “I’m Not Alone” > “Climb To Safety” at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre on 8/12/00.
