UK independent record label 4AD announced a covers compilation Bills & Aches & Blues, which will be released digitally on April 2, with standard vinyl and CD editions due July 23 and a deluxe vinyl box set planned for later this year. 4AD shared five tracks (Side 1) from the compilation featuring Tkay Maidza, U.S. Girls, Aldous Harding, The Breeders and Maria Somerville respectively covering songs by Pixies, The Birthday Party, Deerhunter, His Name Is Alive and Air Miami.
Proceeds from the first year’s sales of Bills & Aches & Blues will be donated to The Harmony Project, “a Los Angeles-based after-school program for children from communities and schools that lack equitable access to studying the arts or music.” Three songs by The Breeders are covered: “Cannonball” by Tune-Yards, “Mountain Battles” by Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox and “Off You” by Big Thief. The Breeders themselves get into the cover action by taking on His Name Is Alive’s “The Dirt Eaters,” which was one of the tracks released today. Find the full tracklist below.
