Bruce Hornsby Shares Pro-Shot Live Video For “Barren Ground” From 2018 Concert [Watch]

Bruce Hornsby has shared a pro-shot live video highlighting his full-band performance of “Barren Ground” alongside the Noisemakers from a show on his 2018 summer tour.

The song, which was first released on Hornsby’s 1990 Night On The Town album with The Range, is revived with an abundance of fresh energy during this newly-shared performance. Hornsby’s commanding vocals lead the way atop the dreamy synths and strong rhythm from start to finish.

“We didn’t play this song for years, but we played it a few years ago and I realized ‘What was I thinking? This is one of the best ones!’ Hornsby noted in a statement shared along with the video. “Now it’s a true regular, with Gibb channeling [Jerry] Garcia for a while here then moving into his own thing.”

Hornsby’s name-drop of the late Grateful Dead guitarist is in reference to Garcia’s playing on the studio recording of the song alongside Shawn Colvin on backing vocals and Béla Fleck on the banjo.
