The 2021 Firefly Music Festival will be held later in the year than its usual June weekend due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers revealed the event is now slated to take place at The Woodlands in Dover, Delaware September 23 – 26.
Firefly’s 2020 installment was originally scheduled for June 18 – 21. The lineup was headlined by Rage Against The Machine, Billie Eilish, Halsey, Khalid and Blink-182. Organizers AEG canceled the festival last March in the early days of the pandemic and indicated Firefly would return in June 2021.
AEG is in talks with state officials regarding permits for the festival. “Event organizers are aware they will need a formal plan approval from the agency before the event takes place,” public health officials told Delaware Online. “We will continue to actively work with the organizers to ensure their plan meets all necessary health and safety requirements and the necessary mitigation and safety measures are in place.”
