Midnight North continues to preview their new album, There’s Always A Story, which arrives on May 7 and is currently available for pre-order. Today, the quartet released “The Sailor & The Sea,” the second of 10 tracks featured on the first full-length Midnight North studio album since 2017’s Under The Lights.
“The Sailor & The Sea” finds Midnight North members Grahame Lesh, Elliott Peck, Nathan Graham and Connor O’Sullivan joined by a trio of special guests. Grahame’s Capitol Sun Rays bandmate Allison Russell adds harmony vocals, while Marcus Machado plays lead guitar on the track and longtime collaborator Jason Crosby provides electric piano accompaniment.
There’s Always A Story also features cameos from Dave Eggar, JT Nero, Scott Law and the Trey Anastasio Band horn section of Jennifer Hartswick, James Casey and Natalie Cressman. Midnight North recorded the LP with co-producer David-Simon Baker at Allegiant Studios in San Anselmo, California. The members of the group completed the album remotely from home studios while self-quarantining during the pandemic with Connor and Grahame recording in California and Elliott and Nathan recording in Pennsylvania.
