Oh Boy Records announced a tribute album to label co-founder John Prine, Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows Vol. 2, set for a Fall 2021 release. Oh Boy previewed the tribute LP with Brandi Carlile performing the last song Prine recorded, “I Remember Everything.”
A co-write with longtime Prine collaborator Pat McLaughlin, “I Remember Everything” won Prine — who sadly died in April 2020 from complications due to COVID-19 — two posthumous Grammys for Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots Performance at last night’s 63rd annual Grammy Awards. Renowned producer Dave Cobb helmed the recording with help from engineer Gena Johnson.
Along with recording “I Remember Everything” for Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows Vol. 2, Carlile also performed the song at last night’s awards. Carlile shared some thoughts on Prine in a statement. Read her words below:
John Prine is a hero and one of the most important and significant songwriters of our time. I feel so lucky to have called him a friend. It was an absolute honor of my life to pay tribute to him on the Grammy stage. His songs will live forever.
