Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio appeared on Burlington, Vermont CBS affiliate WCAX’s evening news programs on Thursday to discuss the announcement he and The Divided Sky Foundation purchased a substance use disorder (SUD) treatment center in Ludlow, Vermont. Anastasio was asked when Phish will return to the stage. Trey’s response included word plans are constantly being discussed and he teased “a secret.” The guitarist went on to state, “I hope we’ll be back pretty soon.”
“I actually think it’s gonna happen,” Trey said regarding his and Phish’s comeback. “We have lots of conversations about it and the landscape is changing … slowly, but there’s an end in sight assuming that everyone continues taking this seriously.”
“I can’t say specifics, but I’ve heard specifics,” Anastasio teased. “I have a secret.” He declined the host’s offer to “break some more news here” but went on to explain the band is “following the COVID rules to the letter” and “waiting until that opportunity arises with the vaccine and everything, I hope that by the …” At that point, Trey cut himself off from sharing a specific timeframe Phish will hit the road.
