Wu-Tang Clan is prepping the release of a limited-edition photo book that will include 300 pages worth of photos of the famous hip-hop group from New York City, and will come with a carefully-designed packaging that weighs up to 400 lbs.
Announced earlier this week, Wu-Tang Clan: Legacy is being described by the group as “the biggest and rarest book in the history of Hip Hop,” and will arrive in a heavy, steel and bronze chamber that was designed by Gethin Jones. The heavy casing opens up to display the coffee table hardcover, which will each be signed, dated, numbered, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Only 36 copies of the book will be sold worldwide.
The book will include images captured over the years by a number of photographers along with the group’s personal archives.
The website for Wu-Tang Clan: Legacy notes the heavy, carefully-crafted chamber was “Inspired by the ancient past and the bronze ritual bowls of the Zhou Dynasty whose first ruler was King Wu-Wang, the chambers consist of Spun Mild Steel bowls while the raised ridges, base and logo are furnished in solid brushed brass.”

“From conception to the present day, this is the story of the undisputed greatest Hip Hop group of all time being unveiled through rare and never-before-seen photos,” Wu-Tang manager John “Mook” Gibbons said in a statement with the announcement.

Last year Wu-Tang Clan released a “Protect Ya Hands” line of hand sanitizer to help raise money for Canadian hospitals and food banks, in addition to an album of lullaby renditions of Wu-Tang songs exclusively for Record Store Day.
Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA also released a new meditation-inspired album last year which was produced in partnership with Tazo tea and entitled Guided Explorations.
