Umphrey’s McGee drummer Kris Myers revealed he tested positive for COVID-19. Myers was absent from the band’s headlining performance last Saturday night at Suwanee Rising in Live Oak, Florida.
Myers revealed his COVID-19 positive test through social media. The drummer expects to be back performing with Umphrey’s McGee when the band begins the Plan Bee Tour on April 30 and May 1 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
“I had to miss Saturday’s show due to a recent positive COVID test despite taking all precautions,” Myers wrote. “It serves as a reminder that this virus is extremely contagious and needs to be taken seriously. I encourage everyone to continue getting tested and vaccinated.”
Umphrey’s McGee’s headlining performance at Suwanee Rising saw the band’s percussionist Andy Farag and guitarist Jake Cinninger playing drums in place of Myers. UM was also assisted by Goose’s drummer Ben Atkind and Lettuce’s drummer Adam Deitch.
