Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy covered Roky Erickson’s “For You (I’d Do Anything)” for the upcoming compilation, May The Circle Remain Unbroken: A Tribute To Roky Erickson. Light In The Attic will release the album honoring the late 13th Floor Elevators frontman as a Record Store Day Drop on Saturday, July 17.

Born in Texas, Erickson died in Austin on May 31, 2019 at age 71. The 12-track tribute, May The Circle Remain Unbroken, features Tweedy alongside Lucinda Williams, Billy F. Gibbons, Margo Price, Mosshart Sexton (Alison Mosshart & Charlie Sexton), Neko Case, Gary Clark Jr & Eve Monsees, Ty Segall, Chelsea Wolfe, The Black Angels, Mark Lanegan & Lynn Castle and Brogan Bentley. Supported by Erickson’s estate, the project was produced by Bill Bentley, (who also worked on the 1990 Erickson tribute album, Where The Pyramid Meets The Eye), with LITA co-founder/co-owner Matt Sullivan and Wyatt Bentley working as associate producers.

“For You (I’d Do Anything)” appeared on Erickson’s 1995 solo album, All That May Do My Rhyme. Another version was released as a bonus track to the 2010 album True Love Cast Out All Evil that Erickson recorded with Okkervil River.
