Greensky Bluegrass debuted a new original song entitled “Monument,” as part of their performance yesterday at Roaring Camp Meadows in Felton, California. Mandolinist Paul Hoffman sang lead on the newest addition to the band’s songbook.
Dobro player Anders Beck introduced the song, noting that he recently “read on the internet” that the band had worked on a new studio album last year during the pandemic. Beck noted that “Monument” was one of the songs the band recorded for the pending release. Watch Greensky Bluegrass debut “Monument” below via Must Have Media:
GSBG kicked off their first of two consecutive shows at Roaring Camp Meadows by opening the first set with The Band’s “The Shape I’m In.” The rest of the set consisted of Greensky originals like “Take Cover,” “Burn Them,” “Lose My Way” and “Demons,” along with covers of Bob Dylan’s “Señor,” Ralph Stanley’s “Clinch Mountain Backstep” and Joshua Davis’ “Last Winter in the Copper Country.”
The second half began with “Don’t Lie,” which was followed by the “Monument” debut. The reset of set two was made up of “More of Me,” a cover of Bruce Hornsby’s “King of the Hill,” “I’d Prob Kill You,” “Wings For Wheels” and the set-closing “Leap Year.” The quintet’s encore was the old-time bluegrass classic “Hit Parade Of Love.”
