The Flaming Lips Announce New Year’s Run 2021 At The Caverns

The Flaming Lips will return to The Caverns in Pelham, Tennessee for a two-night New Year’s Run to end 2021. Wayne Coyne and company will play the famed underground venue on December 30 and 31.

The Caverns previously hosted The Flaming Lips on New Year’s Eve 2018 for what currently stands as their only concert in the cave. 2-Day VIP overnight packages for this year’s run as well as VIP packages without lodging and 2-night GA tickets will go on sale next Tuesday, July 13 at 11 a.m. CT via Eventbrite. Single night packages and tickets will go on sale, if any remain, at a later date.

“To celebrate 2019, hundreds of helium balloons filled with confetti were released and floated up to the stalactites whereupon they met their demise—the cave rained confetti for hours! It was a night of unbridled joy, whimsy and spirit that only The Flaming Lips could deliver,” recalled The Caverns owner Todd Mayo. “We cannot wait to see what’s in store this year!”

“We were a little worried that the low low sub bass frequencies would maybe crack the giant hollow rocks and cause the cavern to collapse in on us while we were playing,” joked Wayne Coyne of the band’s 2018 underground show. “But the promoters told us that the aliens, who carved out the cave (10 million years ago), did shows there for 500 years without any problems, we thought, ‘oh cool!’ Let’s party!”

The Flaming Lips’ New Year’s Eve Eve and New Year’s Eve concerts at The Caverns come between the band’s Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 North American tours. Philadelphia’s The Fillmore hosts the tour opener on November 7.
