Phil Lesh & Friends Featuring Dawes Members Conclude Brooklyn Bowl Nashville Run

64

Phil Lesh & Friends with members of Dawes, Grahame Lesh and Nicki Bluhm concluded their three-night stand at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville on Saturday. The memorable run began with the Grateful Dead bassist’s debut at the venue on Thursday followed by a another great show on Friday ahead of yesterday’s finale

The Phil Lesh & Friends lineup consisted of Dawes’ guitarists Taylor Goldsmith and Trevor Menear, drummer Griffin Goldsmith and keyboardist Lee Pardini along with Grahame Lesh on guitar and vocalist Nicki Bluhm. The band kicked things off with the classic opener “Bertha” helmed led by Taylor on lead vocals.

Menear then delivered the slide guitar intro to Phil’s stellar From The Mars Hotel contribution “Pride Of Cucamonga.” Phil led the way through the tune before the band got into some swampy jamming in the middle section ahead of the song’s conclusion. Phil & Friends continued with “Friend Of The Devil” ahead of Smokey Robinson’s “I Second That Emotion.” “Here Comes Sunshine” came next before Phil stepped to the mic once again for his signatures song, “Box Of Rain.”

The second set commenced with “Feel Like A Stranger” with Grahame handling lead vocals. The group would get into a fairly short but heavy jam before hitting the song’s final riff. Nicki Bluhm then delivered a killer vocal performance on “Easy Wind,” which would have made Pigpen proud as would some harmonica from Menear.

Up next, “He’s Gone” ahead of a pairing of “Estimated Prophet” and “Standing On The Moon.” “Eyes Of The World” would count as the penultimate song of the set ahead of closer “The Music Never Stopped.” Phil Lesh & Friends would wrap up the fantastic run with a “Ripple” encore.
