Brooklyn Comes Alive, the fan-favorite, full-day music marathon, is set to take place at open-air music club The Brooklyn Mirage this Sunday, September 26th [get tickets here].
Ahead of Sunday’s festivities, here’s everything you need to know about Brooklyn Comes Alive 2021:
Venue – The Brooklyn Mirage
The 2020 iteration of Brooklyn Comes Alive, originally set to take place last March, was among the first festivals forced to postpone due to COVID-19. In 2021, in a change from last year’s plans, Brooklyn Comes Alive will take place entirely outdoors at Avant Gardner‘s courtyard venue, The Brooklyn Mirage.
The Brooklyn Mirage, located at 140 Stewart Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, is a sprawling oasis in the heart of the industrial East Williamsburg neighborhood. The courtyard venue is an entirely immersive space, encircled by towering walls lined with evergreen plants and equipped for other-worldly projections and high-end production elements. A catwalk connects a network of expansive outdoor environments and rises to surround the venue, offering views of the iconic New York City skyline and bustling courtyard below.
All of the Brooklyn Comes Alive 2021 artists will perform on the Brooklyn Mirage’s main courtyard stage, allowing fans to catch every minute of music played throughout the day while enjoying more room to dance in a spacious, outdoor environment. Check out some photos of the space in action here.
Even beyond the stage itself, the Avant Gardner complex provides a veritable playground to explore, plenty of spaces to hang out and visit with friends, and views from virtually every angle.
Lineup
Brooklyn Comes Alive will feature a full, two-set show by The Disco Biscuits in addition to a unique performance by The Motet featuring special guests Jeremy Schon (guitar, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong), Shira Elias (vocals, Turkuaz), and Eric “Benny” Bloom (trumpet, Lettuce).
While these will mark the first official Brooklyn Comes Alive performances by both The Disco Biscuits and The Motet, the members of the two beloved bands have been part of the fabric of the unique festival since its inception in 2015. The Motet keyboardist Joey Porter, for example, used Brooklyn Comes Alive 2018 to launch a Steely Dan tribute that has since become a late-night staple in New Orleans during Jazz Fest. The Disco Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein and keyboardist Aron Magner, meanwhile, have performed at virtually every in-person Comes Alive event—from DJ sets to the debut of [Br]eaking [Bi]scuits in 2016 to various other eye-popping collaborations through the years.
The 2021 lineup will be rounded out by a crew of heavy-hitting BCA veterans including the first-ever live show by the avant-garde jazz trio of Joe Russo, John Medeski, and Dave Harrington and an electro-soul dance party with a unique Break Science Live Band lineup featuring drummer Adam Deitch and keyboardist/producer Borahm Lee alongside turntablist Chris Karns, bassist Hunter Roberts, and Bloom on trumpet.
Fast-rising NYC-native bassist/bandleader Karina Rykman will also perform a full set with her band and keep the party going as the DJ between each of the day’s performances.

The Brooklyn Mirage’s doors will open for Brooklyn Comes Alive on Sunday, September 26th at 1:45 p.m. ET, with the first live performance set to begin at 2:15 p.m. Performances will take place on the main, outdoor stage at The Brooklyn Mirage through 12:00 a.m./midnight. What Am I Not Allowed To Bring?
Avant Gardner/The Brooklyn Mirage maintain strict guidelines regarding prohibited items, and all attendees will be subject to search upon entry. Of particular note, any bag larger than 8.5″ x 10″ must be checked at the venue’s official bag/coat check, which costs $6 per item. The following items are not permitted:
-Backpacks/large totes/large purses/duffel bags
-Weapons of ANY kind
-Illegal Substances
-Outside food or beverages
-Skateboards, scooters, or personal motorized vehicles
-Large Umbrellas (personal sized are okay)
-Pets
-Toys of any kind, including stuffed animals
-Glass or metal containers of any kind
-Selfie sticks
-Laser pointers
-Professional camera equipment (no detachable lenses, no tripods, big zooms, or commercial use rigs)
-GoPros
-Audio/video recording equipment (excluding mobile phones)
-Drones or hover cameras
-Totems, hula-hoops or poi
-CBD, THC, or cylindrical tobacco cartridges
-Chewing gum
Can I Leave & Re-Enter?
Re-entry will not be permitted during Brooklyn Comes Alive.

Is There A Simple, Cashless Method To Pay For Drinks, Food, Merch, & More During The Show?
Glad you asked. Avant Gardner/The Brooklyn Mirage uses a cashless, Billfold RFID wristband system for beverage purchases. Attendees will receive a wristband upon entry which they can connect with their preferred form of payment at kiosks near the venue entrance. Once connected, attendees will be able to make purchases within the venue simply by scanning their wristband. Cash will also be accepted
COVID-19 Protocols
Brooklyn Comes Alive will require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours of the event. Please bring a photo ID that matches your documents. For a detailed rundown of the venue’s full list of COVID-19 safety precautions, click here.
Please note, while all music will take place outdoors at The Brooklyn Mirage, the venue will have one of its indoor rooms, Kings Hall, open during Brooklyn Comes Alive. Kings Hall will not host any performances, but rather will operate as an additional bar and hangout space for attendees. Per current NYC laws, only those who are vaccinated may enter Kings Hall.
