Gov’t Mule Details Atlanta Mule-O-Ween Plans, Hints At Allman Brothers Set

Gov’t Mule has announced plans for this year’s Mule-o-ween celebration, set to take place on October 29th and 30th at The Tabernacle in Atlanta. The two-night run will feature special guests, a front-to-back telling of the band’s new album, and possibly even more.

Things get started on October 29th for “An Evening With Gov’t Mule”. The concert will see a complete performance of the band’s forthcoming album, Heavy Load Blues, out on November 12th via Fantasy Records. For the Halloween celebration on October 30th, the Warren Haynes-led outfit will welcome special guests including original Marshall Tucker Band drummer Paul Riddle and Blackberry Smoke frontman Charlie Starr.

Along with all of the official details for the Mule-o-ween shows, the band has also dropped a few breadcrumbs that may point to an Allman Brothers Band-themed set on the 30th. The graphic shared with Monday’s show announcement bears a striking resemblance to the road cases from the cover of ABB’s iconic Live At Fillmore East album, and the band also uses the phrase “Live At The Tabernacle South”. The Allman’s mushroom iconography can also be seen beside the listing for the 30th show, and the band also bills the run as “Gov’t Mule Hot & Heavy ‘Lanta”. Add in the fact there will be an additional drummer and guitarist on hand with Gov’t Mule on October 30th, and one can almost hear the opening rumble of “Whipping Post”.

Pre-sale tickets for Gov’t Mule Mule-o-ween go up on Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET, while tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday at 10 a.m. ET. Scroll down to see the full post and decipher its clues.
