Greensky Bluegrass closed out its annual three-night run at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sunday with a show that saw Holly Bowling (Ghost Light) sit in for much of the evening. The concert also featured opening support from Railroad Earth, members of whom would also appear in Sunday’s GSBG encore.

The first set of Greensky’s Sunday show saw an array of quick hits starting with “Monument”, followed by “Wish I Didn’t Know”, which segued into the band’s recently-debuted cover of Ween‘s “Exactly Where I’m At”. Bowling made her first appearance midway through the first set as she joined the band on a sandwich of “Broke Mountain Breakdown” and The Blues Image‘s “Ride Captain Ride”.

Though most of the ensemble left the stage, the set still wasn’t over as mandolinist/vocalist Paul Hoffman and Bowling performed a duet version of “Windshield”. Hoffman and Bowling have collaborated onstage numerous times with the rest of GSBG, and last September made their duet debut as part of the Dine From Out There culinary/musical collaborative series. The emotionally climactic duet served as the set one closer.

Returning for set two with Bowling still in tow, Greensky Bluegrass opted for a much jam heavier approach, beginning with “Who Is Frederico?”. “Stress Dreams” followed ahead of “Lose My Way” and “I’d Probably Kill You”. GSBG and Bowling dug into The Allman Brothers Band catalog for a penultimate “One Way Out” before “Don’t Lie” closed the set.

Emerging one last time onto the Red Rocks stage, Greensky had even more special guests, with John SkehanTim Carbone, and Todd Sheaffer of Railroad Earth on hand—in addition to Bowling—for “Leap Year”. The GSBG original would wind through RRE’s “Head” before a reprisal of “Leap Year” brought the weekend to a close.
