Circles Around The Sun teamed up with Jimmy Herring (Widespread Panic) for an instrumental interpretation of Neal Casal‘s “Bird With No Name”. The song will appear on the upcoming tribute to the founding CATS guitarist, Highway Butterfly: The Songs of Neal Casal, out on November 12th.
Featured on Casal’s 2011 record, Sweeten The Distance, the song originally hosted the gifted lyricist’s touching words. For the cover, however, Herring translated the soft embrace of Neal’s voice into his guitar, delivering an emotional performance that still boasts the fiery playing fans have come to love.
Produced by Herring’s Panic bandmate (and Casal’s Hard Working Americans bandmate), Dave Schools, the song is accompanied by a music video directed by Deren Ney that sees the titular, nameless bird taking flight amidst the flames likely emanating from Herring’s guitar.
