Revisit Jimmy Herring’s Widespread Panic Debut At Radio City Music Hall, On This Day In 2006

82

Seventeen years ago today on September 14th, 2006, Jimmy Herring a.k.a. “The Wizard” played with Widespread Panic as an official member for the very first time during a show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.

Herring was 44 when he joined the long-running Southern rock band, after playing in various projects throughout the Georgia music scene over the years including Col. Bruce Hampton & The Aquarium Rescue Unit, Derek Trucks Band, Trigger Hippy, and The Allman Brothers Band. The guitar virtuoso, discovered by Col. Bruce himself, has since established his own legacy within the WSP family, and for that we are grateful.

Fitting in like a charm, Herring soared through classics including “Tall Boy”, “Action Man”, and “Rebirtha” during that September 2006 performance. Fans can relisten to the entire 2006 Radio City show here, courtesy of PanicStream.

Happy anniversary Jimmy H!
