Slipknot’s Corey Taylor Debuts New Mask at Band’s First Show in 18 Months

Slipknot returned to the stage over the weekend for the first in 18 months to perform a headlining set for the Rocklahoma music festival. During the set, frontman Corey Taylor debuted a creepy new mask (which you can see above).

As Consequence point out, Taylor teased that a new mask was on the way in an interview a few months back. “I can tell you that the mask I’m working on is very disturbing. It’s gonna be hard to look at,” the frontman told radio station Lazer 103.3.

“And it’ll probably be my favorite mask that I’ve ever put together. It’s little bits and pieces of things that have intrigued me, of masks that I’ve had in the past. And it’s gonna have a devil-may-care kind of terror to it, let’s put it that way.”

The other members of the band reprised the We Are Not Your Kind-era headwear they rocked prior to the pandemic. The 14-track setlist was fairly wide-ranging, featuring classics like ‘Wait and Bleed’, ‘Disasterpiece’ and ‘Duality’ along with newer cuts like ‘Nero Forte’ and ‘Unstained’.

The set also marked a return to the stage for Taylor after the singer recently contracted COVID-19 following a run of solo dates. The singer, who is vaccinated, posted numerous updates about his condition, encouraging fans to get the jab themselves.
