Stephen Inglis Shares ‘Music Is A River’ Single

88

Hawaiian slack-key guitarist Stephen Inglis today released a new single entitled “Music Is A River.” The song was inspired by his visit to the site of Robert Johnson’s second and final recording session.

In 2016, Inglis made his pilgrimage to the building located at 508 Park Ave. in Dallas while he was in town performing a concert. Inglis was given a private tour of the facility by Pat Bywaters, the founder of Encore Park, a Dallas-based non-profit in charge of preserving the historic building.

“Music is a river,” Bywaters told Inglis. “You dip your bucket in, then put some back.”

Inglis shared a studio version of “Music Is A River” recorded at Rendezvous Recording in Honolulu and featuring him joined by Eric Petersen (bass), Steven Howells (drums), Joshua Kaye (keyboards), Ginai Hill (harmony vocals), Todd Yukumoto (saxophones) and Eldrid Ahlo (trumpet). A live video of Inglis performing “Music Is A River” at Crossroads at HB Social Club in Honolulu was also released featuring accompaniment from Petersen, Howells and Kaye.
