Video featuring Yola’s “Diamond Studded Shoes” from the singer-songwriter’s concert at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on October 2 has been released on YouTube. Yola was selected as this month’s Opry NextStage Artist following in the footsteps of such musicians as Parker McCollum, Lainey Wilson, Niko Moon and Hailey Whitters.
“Diamond Studded Shoes” was the lead single from Yola’s sophomore studio album, Stand For Myself, which came out on July 30. Dan Auerbach produced the 12-track LP, the same role he served on 2019’s Walk Through Fire, and released Stand For Myself on his Easy Eye Sound imprint.
“This song explores the false divides created to distract us from those few who are in charge of the majority of the world’s wealth and use the ‘divide and conquer’ tactic to keep it,” Yola said of “Diamond Studded Shoes” when the track was unveiled. “This song calls on us to unite and turn our focus to those with a stranglehold on humanity.”
