Brandi Carlile, Jon Batiste, Billy Strings & More Earn 2022 Grammy Nominations

Brandi Carlile, Jon Batiste, Billy Strings and many others earned 2022 Grammy Awards nominations. Winners for the 64th Grammy Awards will be revealed at a ceremony to be held in Los Angeles on January 31.

Brandi Carlile’s “Right On Time” is up for Song Of The Year, Record Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. “Right On Time” is one of two Song Of The Year nods for Carlile who was also nominated in the category for her “A Beautiful Noise” collaboration with Alicia Keys. Additionally, Brandy Clark’s “Same Devil” featuring Carlile vies for Best American Roots Performance.

Jon Batiste leads the pack with 11 nominations spanning seven categories. Batiste’s We Are goes for Album Of The Year while “Freedom” is up for Record Of The Year. 2020 Grammy winner Billy Strings earned two nominations as his single “Love And Regret” earned a Best American Roots Performance nod and his album Renewal is nominated for Best Bluegrass Album. Béla Fleck’s My Bluegrass Heart, The Infamous Stringdusters’ A Tribute To Bill Monroe, Sturgill Simpson’s Cuttin’ Grass – Vol. 1 (Butcher Shoppe Sessions) and Rhonda Vincent’s Music Is What I See are also nominated for Best Bluegrass Album.

ABBA (“I Still Have Faith In You”), Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga (“I Get A Kick Out Of You”), Justin Bieber featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon (“Peaches”), Doja Cat featuring SZA (“Kiss Me More”), Billie Eilish (“Happier Than Ever”), Lil Nas X (“Montero”), Silk Sonic (“Leave The Door Open”) and Olivia Rodrigo (“Drivers License”) join Brandi Carlile in earning Record Of The Year nominations. Other artists besides Batiste nominated for Album Of The Year are Bennett and Gaga (Love For Sale), Bieber (Justice (Triple Chucks Deluxe)), Doja Cat (Planet Her), Eilish (Happier Than Ever), Lil Nas X (Montero), Rodrigo (Sour), H.E.R. (Back Of My Mind), Taylor Swift (Evermore) and Kanye West (Donda).

Olivia Rodrigo was nominated in the Best New Artist category alongside Arlo Parks, Arooj Aftab, Jimmie Allen, Baby Keem, FINNEAS, Glass Animals, Japanese Breakfast, The Kid Laroi and Saweetie. Foo Fighters scored nods for Best Rock Performance (“Making A Fire”), Best Rock Song (“Waiting On A War”) and Best Rock Album (Medicine At Midnight) while Black Pumas’ Capitol Cuts – Live From Studio A is also among the LPs up for Best Rock Album and “Know You Better (Live From Capitol Studio A)” is also vying for “Best Rock Performance.”

Yola’s Stand For Myself shares the Best Americana Album category with Jackson Browne’s Downhill From Here, John Hiatt with the Jerry Douglas Band’s Leftover Feelings, Los LobosNative Sons and Allison Russell’s Outside Child. Additionally, Yola’s “Diamond Studded Shoes” single earned a Best American Roots Song nomination.

Other notable nominees include Sylvan Esso, Norah Jones, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Fleet Foxes, St. Vincent, Paul McCartney, AC/DC, Valerie June, Leon Bridges, Hiatus Kaiyote, Mickey Guyton, Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, Pat Metheny, Christian McBride, Blues Traveler, The Black Keys, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Madison Cunningham, Tyler Childers, Sarah Jarosz, SOJA, Angelique Kidjo, David Byrne and Brandee Younger.
