Ford is taking a crack at electric restomods with the F-100 Eluminator.

Ford Performance’s SEMA build is based on a 1978 F-100, a late version of the American automaker’s original half-ton pickup truck.

The 2021 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition’s dual-electric motors deliver 634 pound-feet of instant torque and 480 horsepower to all four wheels. Washington’s MLe Racecars, which worked with Ford on this electric Mustang dragster, assisted in installing the zero-emissions powerplant.

Inside the Avalanche Gray and Cerakote Copper-accented body are avocado tanned leathers and a billet aluminum dash with a 15.5-inch touchscreen from the Mustang Mach-E. The F-100 Eluminator rides on Michelin Latitude Sport tires and 19-inch billet aluminum rims in the same two-tone scheme as the body.

The e-pickup is cool, but it’s really a showcase for Ford’s first “Eluminator” electric create engine. Available now from Ford Performance for $3,900, the version offered to customers in all 50 states produces 281 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.

Car and Driver reports that buyers will also need to come up with a battery pack solution to feed the Eluminator engine, as Ford’s development of battery systems for the aftermarket is ongoing.

Meanwhile, Ford’s all-electric F-150 Lightning goes on sale next year.
