Leftover Salmon debuted a cover of Ween‘s “Roses Are Free” back on September 5th, 2021, audio of which is available now on YouTube. The jamgrass outfit fittingly unveiled the cover during a Phish afterparty at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver, CO.

Taken from Ween’s 1994 studio album, Chocolate & Cheese, the song was adopted by Phish on 12/11/97. Though this past summer’s Phish tour did not see the song played once—the only 2021 performance so far was on Halloween in Las Vegas—that did not stop Leftover Salmon from trying it out. The veteran jamgrass outfit had some extra hands on deck in Jay Starling. The Keller Williams associate lent his skills on a multitude of instruments from dobro to keys to lap steel and even fronting the group on Little Feat‘s “Willin’” later in the evening.
