Nominees for the 64th Grammy Awards have been announced. This year’s most nominated artists are Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo. The long list of nominees also includes a bunch of Australian acts.

The Kid LAROI is up for Best New Artist, alongside Arooj Aftab, Jimmie Allen, Baby Keem, Finneas, Glass Animals, Japanese Breakfast, Arlo Parks, Olivia Rodrigo, and Saweetie.

Hiatus Kaiyote, no strangers to Grammy nominations, are nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album. The Melbourne band’s latest album Mood Valiant will go up against records by Eric Bellinger, Cory Henry, Lucky Daye, Terrace Martin, Masego, and Robert Glasper, 9th Wonder & Kamasi Washington.

RÜFÜS DU SOL‘s track ‘Alive’ makes an appearance in the Best Dance/Electronic Recording category. ‘Alive’ features on the Sydney trio’s new album Surrender and it’ll compete with songs by Afrojack & David Guetta, Tiësto, Caribou, Bonobo & Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, James Blake, and Ólafur Arnalds & Bonobo.

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are also among the nominees, with their album Carnage getting a nod in the Best Recording Package category. Though, this award actually focuses on the visual look of an album and so therefore goes to the art director rather than the performer.

Meanwhile, the most nominated Australian act at the 64th Grammy Awards is AC/DC, who’re named in three categories. Their latest album Power Up is up for Best Rock Album, alongside records by Black Pumas, Chris Cornell, Paul McCartney and Foo Fighters. The record’s lead single ‘Shot in the Dark’ is up for Best Rock Performance and Best Music Video.

The Grammys ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on Monday, 31st January 2022. See the full list of nominees here.
