Silk Sonic celebrated the release of its debut album, An Evening With A Solk Sonic, a bit early on Wednesday with an exclusive party at West Hollywood’s The Peppermint Room, rechristened The Silk Room for one night only. The super-duo of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak staged a private event produced by Spotify, performing selections from the album, out on Friday Aftermath Entertainment/Atlantic Records.

With a guest list including Janelle Monae, Ella Mae, Ty Dolla $ign, Yvonne Orji, Elaine Welteroth, Charlie Puth, Rickey Thompson, Denzel Dion, and Shaun Ross, the intimate gathering took on a red carpet feel. The main event came with the first-ever full-length concert by Silk Sonic, who until that point had only performed one-off songs at award ceremonies.

The stage that welcomed Mars, .Paak, and their backing band, The Hooligans, was fittingly adorned in the vintage ’70s motif that defines not just the group’s music but its stylistic choices, as well. Disco balls hung from above before the backdrop lined with sequins and dotted by roller-skating dancers. Silk Sonic rifled through previously released singles “Leave The Door Open” and “Smokin’ Out The Window“, which went #1 on Spotify that day.

The duo also offered the world premiere of “Fly As Me”, as well as “777”, both of which will appear on An Evening With Silk Sonic. True to the group’s throwback R&B vibe, Silk Sonic also performed  “All Night Long” by Lionel Richie, “Turn Me On” by Kevin Lyttle, and “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5, in addition to Mars’ own “24K Magic”.
