Pigeons Playing Ping Pong Shares “Let The Boogie Out” From Mission Ballroom [Watch]

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong has shared a new live video for “Let The Boogie Out”, filmed at Denver, CO’s Mission Ballroom on November 13th. “Let The Boogie Out” marks the latest song debut for the Baltimore-based funk quartet.

The Saturday night show at Mission Ballroom saw Pigeons perform a variety of covers originally debuted at the band’s recent Daft Side of the Moon Halloween run in Washington, D.C.; Pittsburgh, PA; and Columbus, OH. Additionally, during the first set in Denver, Pigeons welcomed Magic Beans keyboardist Casey Russell to the stage for a sit-in on “F.U.”

Following a lengthy “Time To Ride” > “Run Like Hell” (Pink Floyd) > “Time To Ride” sandwich came the four-piece outfit’s second debut of November, following the Ben Carrey-penned (bass/vocals) “Hit The Ground Runnin’” from The Pageant in St. Louis, MO on the 5th.

“Those of you who have been on tour with us know we’ve been busy in our off time. We’ve been releasing a lot of new music and this place is awesome. Why not release a brand new song now?” exclaimed frontman Greg Ormont (guitar/vocals) before leading the group into the new cut.

As is the case with much of the Pigeons catalog, “Let The Boogie Out” arrived as an explosion of high-energy psychedelic funk. The Baltimore birds have made a conscious effort over the last 18-or-so months to incorporate more harmonies, and this was no different. Carrey and guitarist Jeremy Schon added some backing vocals on the titular opening line, which continued through the verse. While this debut didn’t contain a jam section, it’s primed for some exploration in the future and will be a lock for many future setlists going forward.

Ahead of the group’s two-night New Year’s Eve run in Asheville, NC, PPPP will stage a three-show stint in Florida, including a stop at North Beach Music Festival in Miami on December 10th–11th. Head to the band’s website for tickets and a full list of tour dates.
