Athena Burke

Last Friday, Cambridge artist Athena Burke released her album God is Here. Made up of eleven songs, God is Here is an electropop album with uplifting lyrics and spiritual themes. Burke attended the Berklee College of Music after growing up abused, and used music to heal from her trauma. While every song is about spiritual faith, it doesn’t reference a specific religion and it could easily appeal to non-believers. Highlights include “So Many Roads” and “Star.”

New American Cuisine

Five-piece Saratoga Springs band New American Cuisine has two singles named after flowers: “Lily of the Aztecs” and “Daffodil.” The band met in high school, and while they’ve since graduated and gone to different colleges, they continue to collaborate on winter and summer breaks. Both singles have chill guitar riffs and catchy vocal hooks, perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
