Keyboardist Peter Levin shared details of his upcoming Peter Levin & Friends livestream featuring guitarists Marcus King and Audley Freed, vocalist Lamar Williams Jr., and Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit rhythm section. Volume.com, in partnership with Instrumenthead Live, will premiere the previously taped performance tomorrow, Wednesday, December 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
Levin, who was the longtime keyboardist for Gregg Allman, is currently recovering from an emergency heart transplant surgery. The Peter Levin & Friends performance was recorded back in March, with Levin, King, Williams, Freed and The 400 Unit’s drummer Chad Gamble and bassist Jimbo Hart. The session showcased songs that were staples of Allman and The Allman Brothers Band and its December 8 premiere coincides with what would have been Gregg Allman’s birthday.

To all my family, friends, fans, and folks in my extended music community –
I want to thank each and every one of you for keeping me in your prayers and good thoughts.
Thank you all for helping to share the details of my recent health situation and for your generous contributions. So many people from so many chapters of my life have reached out to me, and the love shown has been overwhelmingly beautiful. I really do feel like one of the luckiest and most loved people on earth, and these feelings will live with me always.
I am happy to share that overall I feel great and my recovery is going amazingly well. My doctors are all very pleased with my progress. Although my road to recovery will be challenging and take some time, I am through the woods and excited about facing this new chapter.
I wanted to let you all know that despite the fact I won’t be performing live for some time, there is one concert that we can all enjoy together.
Back in March of this year, I filmed a set of music in which “Peter Levin and Friends” celebrated the music of Gregg Allman and The Allman Brothers Band. This was done with the help of all the folks at InstrumentHead Live.
The band included Lamar Williams Jr., Audley Freed, Chad Gamble, Jimbo Hart, and Marcus King. The band was on FIRE and I can’t think of a better way to say thank you to you all then to release this show on Gregg’s birthday, December 8th. We can celebrate his life and music while paying musical tribute to him and the Allman Brothers.
