Just because they’re a children’s band doesn’t mean The Wiggles aren’t with the times, as the band demonstrates on the new ReWiggled EP. Available now, the five-track offering sees a mix of The Wiggles covering other artists and other artists covering The Wiggles.
On the five-track offering released on Wednesday, the Australian kid’s act covers fellow Aussie chart-toppers Tame Impala with “Elephant”. The cover comes from The Wiggles’ triple j Like A Version session back in March. Also featured on the ReWiggled EP is an opulent rendition of Queen‘s “Bohemian Rhapsody” as well as a take on Down Under punk-rockers The Chats‘ “Pub Feed”. The full ReWiggled album, set for release on March 11th, will also host covers of The Rolling Stones’ “She’s a Rainbow”, AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”, Rihanna’s “Umbrella”, Fatboy Slim‘s “Praise You”, and more.
The tributes go both ways on the ReWiggled EP, as The Chats return the favor with a mosh-worthy “Can You (Point Your Fingers And Do The Twist?)”. Spacey Jane also offers an interpretation of the library reading room banger “D.O.R.O.T.H.Y. (My Favorite Dinosaur)”. The full ReWiggled album features additional Wiggles covers by Melbourne Ska Orchestra, DZ Deathrays, Polish Club, San Cisco, Custard, and more.
