Blue Note Jazz Festival Reveals 2022 Lineup: Robert Glasper, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, DOMi & JD Beck, More

Blue Note New York has announced the lineup for the 2022 edition of the Blue Note Jazz Festival.

The festival will return to New York City for its 11th year throughout the month of June with a lineup featuring top talent from multiple generations, from fledgling duo DOMi & JD Beck to seasoned icons George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic.

The 2022 Blue Note Jazz Festival lineup also includes Robert Glasper, Bill FrisellChris Botti, Charles Lloyd, Macy Gray, Kenny G, Al Di Meola, Madeleine Peyroux, Dave Holland & Kenny Barron, Robert Cray, Kenny GarrettJosé James, Chief Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott), RAKIM with Ravi Coltrane, and Dizzy Gillespie Big Band. The initial lineup announcement also noted that an additional “major headliner” will be added on April 26th.

Kicking off on June 1st with a free show in Washington Square Park headlined by Robert Glasper in association with Washington Square Park Conservancy (WSPC), Blue Note Jazz Festival 2022 will take place at several major venues around the city including Blue Note New York, Sony Hall, The Town Hall, and SummerStage in Central Park.

Robert Glasper’s performance will mark the return of live jazz to Washington Square Park, which was home to the Greenwich Village Jazz Festival for many years. “The Greenwich Village Jazz Festival was a big part of growing up in New York City, not only for me but for many New Yorkers,” says Steven Bensusan, President and Owner of Blue Note Entertainment Group. Bringing jazz music back to Washington Square Park after so many years under the Blue Note Jazz Festival name is an honor.”

WSPC Deputy Director Sheryl Woodruff adds, “Music is an integral part of what makes Washington Square Park so special. Generations of New Yorkers have flocked to the Park to listen and play. We’re incredibly excited to partner with a beloved Village institution such as the Blue Note on this not-to-miss concert. And there’s no better artist to headline than Robert Glasper, who spent his formative years in this very community.”

Blue Note Jazz Festival will also recognize artists from abroad with its European Sounds Series, presented in partnership with the European Union Delegation to the United Nations. The weekend brunch concert series will kick-off with Grégoire Maret and Romain Collin and go on to feature international acts representing Switzerland, Estonia, Romania, Spain, France, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Finland, and Germany.
