48

Kendall Street Company will issue a new EP, Untitled California Project, on June 24. The Charlottesville, Virginia-based rockers also announced tour dates for an inaugural western swing.

Untitled California Project follows Kendall Street Company’s 2021 The Year The Earth Stood Still studio releases. The quintet — guitarists Louis Smith and Ben Laderberg, drummer Ryan Wood, bassist Brian Roy and saxophonist/keyboardist Jake Vanaman — tapped veteran producer Joe Pisapia (David Crosby, The Monkees) to helm the new EP. The record contains the tracks “California #1,” “California #24” and “Crab Surprise.”

“I’m so happy we’re able to share [this] story through a visionary piece on the state of California,” Vanaman said of the EP. “The project details a journeyman’s loss of innocence, and follows his epic jaunt through the heartland of America. Think of it like a musical theatre show.”

“A release that pairs dynamic musicianship with ingenious storytelling, the album is a tongue-in-cheek rock opera inspired by both the culture and natural beauty of America’s golden coast,” a press release noted. “Arriving on June 24th, the project heralds the band’s long-awaited inaugural visit to the west – an inescapable destiny, manifested.

Kendall Street Company’s maiden voyage west begins in Denver on June 10 before the band heads up to Fort Collins on June 11. KSC then hits the Pacific Northwest via Heber City, Utah with plays in Seattle and Portland.

Next, the quintet hits the EP’s namesake state for the first time beginning with a concert in San Luis Obispo on June 24. Kendall Street will then deliver two sets at Cali’s High Sierra Music Festival on June 30 and July 1. The tour will wrap up in Santa Cruz on July 3.
