Stern Grove Festival 2022 Season: Phil Lesh & Friends, Old Crow Medicine Show + More

Phil Lesh & Friends, Old Crow Medicine Show and more are set for the 2022 Stern Grove summer concert series. The long-running free festival kicks off its 85th annual summer concert season at San Francisco’s Sigmund Stern Recreation Grove on June 12 and closes out on August 14.

Opening the concert series on June 12 are Oakland legends Tower Of Power and Too $hort, who were set to perform at Stern Grove’s Big Picnic closing event last year but had to postpone due to water damage. Also on the eclectic lineup are Toro Y Moi, LeAnn Rimes, Cold War Kids, Cat Power, Taj Mahal, Liz Phair, Molly Tuttle (with OCMS) and others.

Bassist Phil Lesh of San Fran’s own the Grateful Dead will perform for Stern Grove’s season-closing Big Picnic this year on August 14. Opening up the evening is Midnight North with Phil’s son Grahame Lesh. The Big Picnic is also a fundraiser in Stern Grove’s mission to “provide admission-free concerts and arts education programs for the residents of the Bay Area.” The festival is offering a limited number of tables for purchase. “We are excited to highlight so many legendary Bay Area artists in our 85th season and also to continue our trend in recent years of presenting more and more high profile artists at Stern Grove Festival,” executive director Bob Fiedler said. “From my perspective, this is our best lineup ever, and we truly hope that everyone can find at least one artist that appeals to them over the course of our summer season.”
