Red Hot Chili Peppers brought their world tour to Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday for a concert at Marlay Park. The quartet dusted off “Sir Psycho Sexy” and a cover of Robert Johnson’s “They’re Red Hot” for tour debuts at the start of the evening’s encore.
Last night’s show came in similar format to other stops on Red Hot Chili Peppers’ tour supporting their recently released Unlimited Love album. Vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith and guitarist John Frusciante followed an intro jam with “Can’t Stop” from 2002’s By The Way. The band then played “Dani California” off 1999’s Californication before returning to By The Way for “Universally Speaking.”
Unlimited Love was first represented in the Dublin setlist by the ensuing “These Are The Ways.” The Chili Peppers also performed “Whatchu Thinkin’,” “The Heavy Wing” and “Black Summer” from their latest LP. After “These Are The Ways,” the group offered Blood Sugar Sex Magik for its initial play since the band’s set at Jazz Fest in New Orleans on May 1.
RHCP went on to deliver a mix of material from various eras for the rest of Wednesday’s main set leading up to the “Give It Away” finale. The four-piece lit into “Sir Psycho Sexy” to get the encore underway before running through their sped-up take on “They’re Red Hot.” Both tracks were originally recorded by the band for Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The pairing was last performed back on March 5, 2019 in Perth, Australia. The Chili Peppers punctuated the concert with “By The Way.”
