Tasman Keith has shared new single ‘HEAVEN WITH U’, a heartfelt, R&B-oriented cut from the eclectic rapper and artist which features soulful vocals courtesy of Jessica Mauboy. It’s one of the more tender tracks we’ve heard so far from Keith’s forthcoming debut album A Colour Undone, contrasting the braggadocious flexing and rapid-fire bars of, say, Genesis Owusu collab ‘CHEQUE’.
“HEAVEN WITH U was a song that I wrote to myself, a song about finding the blissfulness and enlightenment internally which in turn will have you see it in others,” Keith explains in a statement. “It’s a love song to oneself, whilst at the same time being a song you can dedicate to anybody you truly find heaven in.
“As soon as I had the song, I knew the one thing it needed was something only Jess could provide,” Keith says of working with Mauboy on the track. “Having a friendship with somebody who has been at the forefront of Australian pop is one thing but having a shared respect and understanding for each other through our heritage is another, and then to have that same person on a record is something beyond.”
Mauboy echoed Keith’s sentiments in her own statement, calling him “evolutionary when it comes to how we see and feel about Australian music,” adding that he’s “an incredibly talented artist and creator.”
A Colour Undone is set to arrive Friday, 8th July. Other featured artists set to appear on its tracklist include Kwame – who executive produced the record alongside Keith – along with Thandi Phoenix and Phil Fresh. In the meantime, listen to ‘HEAVEN WITH U’ below.
