The String Cheese Incident & Billy Strings Play ‘Shakedown Street’ At Red Rocks: Pro-Shot Video

87

The String Cheese Incident and Billy Strings shared pro-shot video of their collaborative cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Shakedown Street” from last Sunday at Red Rocks. Strings was brought in as a last-minute substitute for Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh, who canceled his appearance after getting COVID-19.

The Strings Cheese Incident featured extensive collaboration as the guest guitarist sat in with SCI at various points of all three sets. The second set was devoted entirely to the Grateful Dead’s live repertoire, with Strings adding electric guitar to “Brown-Eyed Women,” “Peggy-O,” “Estimated Prophet,” “Eyes Of The World,” “The Other One” and “Shakedown Street.” Strings spent part of “Shakedown Street” playing percussion alongside SCI’s Jason Hann.

Sunday’s “Shakedown Street” was SCI’s first performance of the Dead tune since November 11, 2014. Official soundboard audio of the entire three-set concert can be purchased via nugs.
