Goose Kicks Off Colorado Run At Dillon Amphitheater

Goose launched their Colorado run on Tuesday with the first of two concerts at the picturesque Dillon Amphitheater. The rainy evening in the Rockies saw Goose offering some weather-appropriate songs like “Hot Tea” and “Into The Myst” along with well-jammed renditions of “Time To Flee” and “Pancakes.”

Goose — guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, keyboardist/guitarist Peter Anspach, bassist Trevor Weekz, drummer Ben Atkind and percussionist Jeff Arevalo — kicked off the first set with “Bob Don” before jumping right into “Time To Flee,” which they stretched out to 19 minutes. Next up the band offered a new arrangement on a song, “Indian River,” from their 2016 debut LP, Moon Cabin, followed by Shenanigans Nite Club companions “SOS (Dawn).”

Next, Goose kept up the “Same Old Shenanigans” on a 14-minute excursion before journeying through “The Labyrinth.” Goose wrapped up the first frame with a 16-minute rendition of “Hot Tea,” the funky live favorite which landed on the band’s recently released 2022 album, Dripfield.

“Flodown” served as the second set “Flopener” before the quintet took a “Drive.” Goose kept up the explorations with a 17-minute “A Western Sun” which melted into “Moby,” the latter appears on Goose’s jam and rehearsal collection Ted Tapes 2021.

A weather appropriate “Into The Myst” counted as the penultimate song of the second set before Goose delivered a flapjack throwdown on a 17-minute “Pancakes,” a song from Peter Anspach’s Great Blue catalog Goose debuted earlier this year, to cap off the set. The quintet returned to encore with the relatively rare “Doobie Song.” Goose returns to Dillon Amphitheatre tonight ahead of their Red Rocks debut tomorrow. Head here for livesteram info.
